We Believe

Our faith tradition is based on a life-transforming story. It's a story both ancient and timely. It’s a story of a powerful and patient God who has boundless love for all people of the world, who brings justice for the oppressed. It’s a story of Jesus Christ, changing lives. It’s a story that brings comfort and strength to people who today live in modern, often unsettling times. Learn more about our beliefs—and become a part of our story.

History of Peace Lutheran Church

Peace Lutheran began as a merger of two Pasadena Lutheran Churches, First Evangelical Lutheran and Sharon Lutheran in 1993. The churches came together to expand their ministry and mission to new areas of the Pasadena area. In 1995 we constructed our present sanctuary and expanded with a new education building in 2001. Our members come from all walks of life and histories.

Ministries at Peace Lutheran Church

Adult Learning: We offer opporutunies on Sunday mornings, evenings and Wednesday mornings (at 10:00am). These studies range from Bible lessons to topical studies. The Wednesday morning study looks deeper into the worship texts for the upcoming Sunday. All are welcome.

Sunday School: We offer classes for all ages. The purpose of our Sunday School is the instill a desire for life long faith formation in each child. The classes are small and teachers are volunteers who have been trained in our Akaloo (which means in Greek "to folllow"). We abide by a covenant that values each person as a child of God and respects and appreciates each one's gifts and growth.

Confirmation: Instruction for all 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Peace's program begins in August and concludes in May. Contact the church office for information: 281-487-1635.

During children's third grade year we offer special classes to help them discover the joy, grace and hope of this "means of Grace".

Funerals and Grief: We offer support and guidance to all who experience the loss of a loved one. For members we offer a special light meal after the funeral for comfort and fellowship.

This group has many opportunities for fellowship, study of scriptures, and service in the local community. This group is dedicated to guiding our men of the church to discovering what it means to be a leader in the community.

Parish Life: If you are called to help in event planning and coordination, this group of individuals is your calling. While this is a group that helps in the implementation of events, this is also the group that helps in caring for its members in our congregation through personal relationships and prayer.

Prayer: We invite our members to be apart of our prayer groups to help support the ministries of Peace Lutheran Church, its members, and the world. This group helps by coming once a week to help pray for the church and the ministries here in the Houston area.

Service to Others: We invite our members to be apart of the many service opportunities that we offer to our community here in Pasadena, Texas. From the past year we have helped Pasadena Community Ministries, Habitat for Humanity, Lutheran World Relief, Sarah’s House, and many other ministries in our area. We also encourage our members to be apart of service outside of the church, but we are always open to help our members in their call to service.

This is a ministry where we train our members of our congregation to provide one-to-one Christian care to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, unemployed, relocated, and others facing a crisis or life challenge. Stephen Ministry Ministers help our congregation provide quality caring ministry.
